The Best Branded Lines of Eco-friendly Shoes

Environmentally-friendly footwear seems to be a trend these days. Usually, these brands of shoes are not as attractive as many would like them to be. Now that more and more large international shoe companies are into the craze, they have come up with some of the best lines of green shoes on the market, and some of these shoes are even easy on the pocket. Below are some of the brands, along with their principles, that support the preservation of the environment by producing eco-friendly shoes.

Birkenstock. Even before eco shoes were “in,” they had already participated in a movement towards producing organic footwear for men, women and children. In fact, each shoe box ever made from Birkenstock comes from 90% recycled paper. The manufacturing process of these shoes makes less waste and the Birk sandals can be repaired.

Keen. This brand aims to work towards 100% sustainability for their shoe products and to provide more eco-friendly goals. Some of the actions taken include using water-soluble glues, renewable polyester webbing, natural cotton for canvas, and shoeboxes made from recyclable materials. Particularly known for its “Newport” toe-protecting sandals, Keen offers a variety of footwear for men, women and children.

Simple. This shoe company sells boots, sandals and shoes that come in unique and hip designs for kids, women and men. This particular brand of footwear uses crepe, water-based glue, renewable car tires, jute and cork. From retro slip-on sneakers to lace-ups, Simple guarantees affordability, with a price range of $50 to $100.

El Naturalista. This shoe brand offers environmentally-friendly sandals and shoes for men and women, with prices ranging from $150 to $200. Some of the many socially responsible goals of the company include operating with transparency, promoting traditional skills, paying fair prices to manufacturers, promoting the use of organic materials and dyes, and using recycling maters whenever possible.
