President Barack Obama recently asked for a green energy economic model.

During his speech at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a top science and technology university, he told Boston academicians that the country needed not to depend on fossil fuel for. Instead, the nation must harvest renewable solar energy, atmospheric energy and other green-friendly energy resources so as to provide a better future for everyone and for the economy.

Obama focused on the significance of the program and its long term benefits and requested a conversion of the country’s fiscal paradigm by changing the current economic structure (from traditional fossil fuel dependency) to dependency on ecological forms of energy. The President revealed that the kind of energy that powers the country’s economy is the type that endangers the planet and its security.

Apart from questioning the financial system for letting down the nation’s economy and national security, he also criticized conservative reservations on their “green energy development.” He said that trillion dollar energy corporations will lose to countries going green like India and China if the U.S. does not move to a structural change in its energy supply system.

According to the President, other nations have begun developing different ways of generating and using energy. He believes that the country that wins the energy competition will eventually become the global economy leader. Obama believes that America will be that nation.

Obama’s speech also served to further develop his administration’s energy and policies regarding the climate. With that, there is a need for identifying the Federal government’s expense scheme, making it a notable approach to increase new research in the area of clean energy.

On the other hand, the President warned against the setbacks in pursuing a clean energy economy and noted the traditionalists’ disagreement of the change, getting in the way of his promotion of the Democratic Party campaign.

“There’s going to be a lot of debate about how we move from an economy that’s importing oil to one that’s exporting clean energy technology… how we will lead the world to prevent the worst consequences of climate change.”
