David Peacock of Anheuser-Busch, Inc.
David Peacock is an Anheuser-Busch veteran and his ascension to the position of company president came as no surprise.
In 2008, Brazilian-Belgian brewing company InBev offered Anheuser-Busch a $46 billion offer for a merger. Anheuser-Busch initially rejected the offer, but after a few weeks, agreed to a merger with a cash offer of almost $52 billion and a guaranteed two seats in the combined Board of Directors. By November, the merger was completed and the company was renamed to Anheuser-Busch InBev.
Once the merger was finished, David Peacock was chosen as the company’s president. David Peacock, who began working for Anheuser-Busch in 1992, has handled the company’s corporate planning brand management, media and sales departments prior to the InBev merger.
As president of Anheuser-Busch, David Peacock manages all US operations of the brewery conglomerate.
David Peacock has moved from one position to another since his early days at Anheuser. He was and still is the vice president for marketing of Anheuser-Busch Incorporated; was Anheuser-Busch Companies Inc and Anheuser-Busch Inc’s vice president from December 2006 to September 2007; and once served as vice president of business and finance operations for Anheuser-Busch Inc.
The largest brewing company in the United States, Anheuser-Busch holds 48.8% share of the total beer sales in terms of volume in the country. Anheuser-Busch has a total of 12 breweries located in the United States, and almost 20 more in other parts of the world.
The origins of Anheuser-Busch began when it was a small-scale brewing operation in St. Louis, Missouri in 1860 when Eberhard Anheuser, a German-born soap manufacturer, started the family’s brewing business. Nine years later, his son-in-law Adolphus Busch joined the venture as a partner. When Anheuser died in 1880, Busch succeeded him as the company’s president.
Anheuser-Busch introduced America’s most recognizable beer brand Budweiser in 1876. A year later, the company produced King Cola, the company’s first cola drink.
With brewing operations all over the world, Anheuser-Busch’s presence in charitable works are felt worldwide. The company’s charitable arm, Anheuser-Busch Foundation, delves into education, health services, and cultural enrichment.
Aside from his duties with Anheuser-Busch, David Peacock is also active as chairman of the board and Chief Executive Officer of Wholesaler Equity Development Corporation. Wholesaler Equity is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch Companies Inc.
