Ross Global Academy Founder

Courtney Sale Ross, widow of Time Warner’s former boss Steve Ross, is actively engaged in causes related to education. Long before her husband’s death, she has been an energetic figure in promoting innovative education structures and developing models that encourage educational reform. She started to participate in improving the education programs in 1991, when she and her late husband founded the Ross School. The Ross School serves as an innovative interdisciplinary center where students are exposed to the highest quality of education.

Courtney Sale Ross intends to make Ross School a venue of technology and the combined processes of on-site learning, peer teaching, mentoring.

To further extend her reach to more students, she created the Ross Global Academy, a pioneering public charter school with a global mindset. The Ross Global Academy offers holistic development of students and equips them with the necessary knowledge and skills that are needed in the 21st century.

Courtney Sale Ross plans to make Ross Global Academy an institution that would give students the capability to think and analyze critically and ingeniously, recognize and respect diverse cultures, become important figures, employ technology, live healthy lives and grow a zeal for learning.

Aside from her involvement in Ross School and the Ross Global Academy, Courtney Ross also supports the Courtney Sale Ross Scholarship Fund at the Tisch School of New York University. The scholarship is given to underprivileged women.

She also endowed the Courtney and Steven Ross Chair in Interdisciplinary Studies to her alma mater, Skidmore College. In addition to this, Courtney Ross also heads the Ross Institute for Advanced Study and Innovation in Education, a non-profit research institution that strives to search for ground breaking measures for education at the pre-college level.

Courtney Sale Ross is also keen on building a better and more productive United States-China relationship. In fact, several institutions in China have already received significant support from her, including the Shanghai Museum, where a state-of-the-art theatre is named on her behalf.

Due to Courtney Ross’ concentrated efforts in improving education, a professorship for education and globalization at the Steinhardt School of Education in New York University was named after her.

Aside from education, Courtney Sale Ross’ other interests are art and films. Prior to her educational campaign, she established a contemporary art gallery in Dallas, Texas. She also produced quite a number of film features like The Big Picture and Stroke of a Genius.
