Al Gore Proud to Invest in Green Companies

Former United States Vice President Al Gore stated during an interview on television that he is proud to invest in eco-friendly businesses and is not a “carbon billionaire,” according to a previous report.

On ABC’s Good Morning America, the environmentalist said he takes pride in where he invests his money. “And though that is not the majority of my business activities, I absolutely believe in investing in accordance with my beliefs and my values,” he added.

During the interview, Gore firmly stated his belief that the United States will be successful in pursuing renewable energy sources. The United Nations Climate Change Conference, held in Copenhagen, Denmark in December 2009, was another step to reach such an aim. The event was an opportunity to come up with new jobs for the millions of jobless Americans and to also reduce the country’s dependence on foreign oil since the United States will then be counting on energy coming from its own soil, and this can create numerous jobs.

In addition to this, the event was also significant primarily because the worst outcomes that scientists have always talked about, which are now slowly unfolding, can still be avoided. Gore was confident that President Barack Obama would attend the conference and offer his advice and assistance in the realm of climate change.

Al Gore has been taking part in various environmental programs since 2004, the year he launched the company Generation Investment Management, where he acts as chair. The business is a London-based fund management firm aiming to develop green portfolios. Gore also formed another group called The Alliance for Climate Protection a few years later. The Alliance went on to form We Campaign in 2008, a $300 million campaign aspiring to encourage American citizens to partake in aggressive reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
